Nice eggs

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 1:56 am

Happy Easter and whatnot.

It looks like we’re going to be meeting with J. Christopher Hughes this week to talk about the album. The weekend we spent recording at Hughes’ place was sort of a trial run. It gave Hughes a chance to check us out and it gave us a chance to check him out. I think it’s pretty safe to say that everyone was extremely pleased with how it went and how it sounded. So now we just have to work out the details for doing the real thing. We’ll keep ya posted.

Stevie cried

Filed under: Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 1:58 am

I try not to make a habit of shitting on other musicians but this time I can’t help it. There’s this new song playing on pop radio…I don’t know who it is…some chick…sounds kinda like J-Lo…it sucks. The track is Superstitous by Stevie Wonder…but it’s not just a sample (I have no beef with sampling by the way) it’s the whole fuggin’ toon….with a bigger drum track…what tha??!! They wrote a new melody because I guess they thought Stevie’s just wasn’t quite there. Then the lyrics to the chorus are “What goes around comes around what goes up must come down”…LAME. The only thing they could have done to make it worse would have been to do those “shining like a beacon in the night” sort of lyrics…or my favorite…the whole sad/mad/glad rhyming trifecta. Superstitous is one of the funkiest songs ever written…why on earth would any musician (with any taste at all) re-write it???

My phone = poo

Filed under: Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 1:58 am

My cell phone shot craps on me…hmmm…shot crap on me?….anyway it died while we were in Indianapolis last week. So I called T-Mobile and asked them what my options were. To make a long story short, they sent me a brand new Nokia camera phone as a replacement. My old was was just a cheapy/plain old phone so I’m pretty pleased about that. I think they did it because I bagged Catherine Zeta Jones back when I was in high school. I know she’s been wanting to thank me all these years.

Now that I have a camera phone I plan to start a collection of candid up-skirt shots….and pictures of me on the toilet….and in the shower…and some of those “Oops, did I just stick my phone down your shirt ma’am” type shots. I’ll let ya see ‘em as I get ‘em.

Indy show

Filed under: Thanks — Drew Johnson @ 2:00 am

Thanks a lot to all the super cool folks in Indinapolis who came out to the show. We had a great time. It makes being on the road much easier when the crowd is receptive. The staff at The Melody Inn was very nice and I hope we can do it again soon. Also a huge thanks to The Fuglees for having us and to Andy for putting us up (or putting up with us) for the night. I learned things about my morning breath that I never knew before. Sorry to all who fell victim.

Recording weekend went really well

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:07 am

Our recording went really well this past weekend. We had a great time and got quite a bit accomplished. Here are some pictures that we took if you’re into that sort of thing.

There is also a short video of some of our stupidity on the Video page. Check it out.

The big weekend

Filed under: Day to Day, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:08 am

Well, this is the big weekend. We’re making the trip out to the studio tomorrow night to spend the weekend out there. I’m excited…very…nervous too…VERY. I know it’s gonna be a great time though. There probably won’t be any blogging until Monday but I should have some pictures and video (maybe) when we get back. Wish us luck.

Nemo on Ice

Filed under: Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 2:10 am

We just got back from seeing “Finding Nemo on Ice”…it was cool…we should’ve taken my son…he’d have loved it (<— humor). It was at the Savvis Center. I remembered that the last time I was there I saw U2 with Dino and some friends. That was also the night that we found out Angel was pregnant. OK that was kind of a boring little fact…if you’re not me…whatever.

XBOX

Filed under: Thanks — Drew Johnson @ 2:12 am

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the show last weekend. The Maxtone Four was awesome, The Fuglees were awesome, we were awesome…good times.

I got an XBOX over the weekend which is why I haven’t taken the time to blog…or eat…or sleep…God, games are so stupid.

Dino is God

Filed under: Comedic Genius, Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 2:14 am

Here is a little bit of an email Dino sent me last night after reading my blog.

“DREW THIS IS YOUR GOD SPEAKING . . . go back to wal-mart and get the
ps2, you can play it with the band next weekend and on the road trip,
do you really need clean dishes if your stove don’t work? the camera
takes pictures right? ”

Well that seemed like pretty sound advice to me so I went back to Wally World today to pick one up. I paced back and forth in front of the games for about 15 minutes trying to decide between the PS2 and the XBOX. I decided to go with the XBOX. Then I paced back and forth for another 15 minutes deciding on which games to get. I had the girl open up the display case and got 3 games that I knew would be cool. Then I said OK now all I need is the XBOX and I’ll be good to go. She said they didn’t have any. I punched her in the stomach and headed for K-Mart. They didn’t have any either. I cried…still crying actually.

Who needs food when you’ve got a rocket launcher

Filed under: Comedic Genius, Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 2:15 am

My wife made me the ultimate “If you fly, I’ll buy” offer tonight and I totally dropped the ball…or acted like a responsible adult, I can’t decide.

I’ve had the itch to get a Play Station 2 or an XBOX lately. PC games just don’t consume enough of my free time so I’ve been looking to take on another life-sucking addiction.

My wife just had a birthday a few days ago (Feb 27th) so she’s had this birthday money that I’ve been wanting to get my mits on. We we’re watching TV tonight and she said if I’d run to Taco Bell and get her some food that she’d buy the PS2 or the XBOX…whichever I wanted. I peed in my panties. My wife (like me) has also had most of her brain sucked out by video games so she understands the craving.

I grabbed all of her money, hopped in the car, and headed to Wal-Mart. On my way there I remembered that we need a new dish-washer, a new oven, a new camera, and all kinds of other boring-ass stuff…so I got the Taco Bell and went back home. I hate myself.
