Cicero’s last night

Filed under: News, Thanks — Drew Johnson @ 2:29 am

We had an absolute blast playing at Cicero’s last night. We got to meet some fans…made some new fans…the shit hit the fan…all in a day’s work. Thanks to everyone who came out in the crappy weather. There’s a short clip from the show on the Video page.

Of course that was Nate’s first gig with us. He did an excellent job. It’s not an easy task to learn an entire set in a week and a half but he pulled it off. Well done. Many more great gigs to come.

Meeting with Hughes

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:30 am

Our meeting with Hughes went extremely well last night. We all seem to be on the same page so far. We’re going to start recording with him in the next few weeks. We’ll finally be able to make the album that we’ve always wanted to make.

We listened to a bunch of stuff that he’s been working on and it all sounds pretty fucking amazing. His collection of gear is world class. But the thing that’s really the most important is that the guy’s got great ears. We talked a lot about how we want the album to sound. He seems to really understand what we want and how to get there.

I’m extremely excited about getting into the studio with the guy. It’s really gonna be somthin’ else…I promise.

The shop is open

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:31 am

Our shop is now open. Go spend all of your money. There are two different styles of the logo. We all have our preference but we’ll let you decided which you’d rather have to make all of you friends jealous.

Tomorrow night is our big meeting with Jon Christopher Hughes where we’ll discuss recording the album in his studio. I’m pretty excited about the possibilities…the guy does great work. We’ll let ya know how it went.

Nate will be ready

Filed under: Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 2:32 am

Our rehearsal went really well this morning. Nate will definitely be ready to play the show next weekend. It’s really cool to have a keyboard player again. It really opens up a lot of possibilities…and he’s a good singer to boot.

Our merch page will be up very soon. We’ve got a couple more details to work out but we’re really close.

Email from J. Christopher Hughes

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:33 am

I got an email last night from Jon Christopher Hughes. He’s one of the guys who was at the top of our list of engineers/studio owners. I had intended to contact him this week but he beat me to it. I don’t know if he caught wind that we were looking for a studio or if it was just a total fluke…either way, we’re meeting with him next week to talk about the album.

We’re going to be playing a few tunes on The Dave Glover Show tomorrow around 6:00PM. If you’re in the St. Louis area be sure and tune in to 97.1 FM. We’re going to be debuting “You Devil You”. I hope I don’t choke.

Merch samples…only cool bands use the word “merch”

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:35 am

got the samples of some of our new merch today. I wasn’t sure what to expect. We haven’t worked with this supplier before but I was very pleased with how everything looked. I’ll have to let the rest of the guys check ‘em out but (if all goes well) we should have a “store” link coming soon.

Nate is furiously learning the tunes for our upcoming show at Cicero’s. Playing your first gig with a new band less than two weeks after joining is a huge task…but we have faith. That show is going to be such a blast we really hope that Nate will be able to join us. If he’s not ready we plan to cut off his penis and feed it to him…once again, welcome to the band. The rest of us cut off our penises a long time ago so he should fit right in.

Nate Williamson joins the fray

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:36 am

Nate Williamson joined the band today as our keyboard player. We’re really excited about that. Great player, great guy, and a snappy dresser too. Welcome to the band…don’t fuck it up. <— humor

The search is on to find a studio. We’ve decided not to continue with doing it ourselves. This will allow us to release the album much sooner and with all of our nerves intact. We’re going to go analog this time. That drastically reduces our choices but it’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while. We’re looking forward to it.

Producer hunt

Filed under: Day to Day — Drew Johnson @ 2:37 am

I ordered some samples of our new clothing line today. We’ll see how they turn out and if all goes well we’ll have the stuff available for your consumption in about a week or so.

Lately I’ve been thinking about the possibility of recording our new album at a studio instead of doing it ourselves like we’ve done in the past. I know we’d finish it much quicker and it’d save me a lot of stress. I heard some samples from the new Maxtone 4 album today and they sounded amazing. They are recording it at Angelfish Studios. Here’s the funny thing. When Jason McEntire was first building that studio he asked us if we’d be interested in coming in and blasting out some tunes just so he could check out the new room. He said he’d do it for free. We gave a big hell yeah and then never did it.

Now that I’ve heard the results he’s getting I feel like an idiot that we never did it. I haven’t run this by the guys yet but it’s definitely where my mind is headed.

Met with a new keyboard player

Filed under: Announcements, News — Drew Johnson @ 2:39 am

We are in the process of completely re-designing our site. The new look is pretty cool. We hope to launch it this week.

We met and played with a keyboard player this past weekend. I was really pleased with how it went. He’s a good guy and a really good player. We’re going to get together again this coming weekend. I forgot how much I missed having the keys in the band until we had ‘em back. It just adds so much.

I set a new world record today for the most keyboards ever ruined by beer. I fried another one…and I don’t intend to stop there.
